Tanning oil, the best spray for hair volume, organic cream with rose extract and a highlighter suitable for everyone - Alla Akperova, the founder of the Moskvichka beauty salon chain Brow & Beauty Bar, told BeautyHack about her favorite products that you should definitely take with you on vacation.
Founder of the network of beauty salons Brow & Beauty Bar "Moskvichka"
Undoubtedly, the cosmetic bag of a person involved in the beauty industry is different from others, because when you try so many products every day, you have to narrow your circle of “favorites” and keep only the best. Previously, I often paid attention only to beautiful packaging - now I understand that minimalistic and simple jars can hide a miracle remedy that I want to take with me everywhere - including on vacation. For Moskvichka, we also select only the best - we constantly monitor the market, select the best-selling brands and test everything on ourselves.
Therefore, I boldly declare - I am a beautholic with a capital letter, I have not just a few jars on the shelf, but whole suitcases of my favorite cosmetics.
These are body ointments, ampoules with vitamins, masks for face and hair, and a whole collection of oils. I remember a case when I flew to Australia, and my suitcase was inspected for half an hour - they probably thought that I was carrying contraband, but in fact I just wanted to take with me what I used to use every day.
Lately I have been trying to give preference to organic cosmetics - perhaps the trend towards naturalness influenced me. But even the products presented in our salon, for the most part, have a natural composition - for example, St Barth.
I love their Coconut Oil the most - our employees attended the master class and learned that this is the only brand that produces oil from coconuts that did not fall, but still grow on a tree. I have tried similar products from other brands, but I have never seen such fragrances as St Barth. Avocado oil is also very good, but I like to add it to the bath more - literally 2-3 drops save from tightness and dryness. Or I do this: after a shower, I apply on damp skin, pat it a little with a towel and wait for the oil to be completely absorbed. Not to mention, both Avocado Oil and Coconut Oil are great for moisturizing your face and hair.
On the advice of my beautician, I regularly use body scrubs, but my favorite one is “Salt peeling” from the French professional brand Thalasso Bretagne with algae extracts. And after that I rub a product with sea calcium into the skin - this is a necessary component, which, unfortunately, is not enough with age. I don't really like body creams - they all seem too chemical to me, that's why I “come off” with oils.
I'm a tanning fan. I know that it is very harmful and dangerous, but I can’t help myself. Therefore, on vacation, I protect my skin to the maximum. To enjoy the bronze hue, and not suffer from burns, I use Roucou Tanning Oil from St Barth. I, in principle, have dry skin - and the sun also aggravates the problem, so there can be no sunbathing without oil. Protection there is weak - only SPF 6, so the manufacturer recommends applying a cream with more powerful filters over it.
In facial skin care, first of all, I rely on high-quality cleansing and for this I choose the only proven product - the Sensibio Micelle Solution micellar water from Bioderma. Only after it does I get the feeling of really clean skin, so I not only take off my makeup with the product, but also simply “wash my face” - I wipe my skin in the morning, and then apply serum and cream.
To be honest, I like the ritual of body care more - for the face, you need something quick and versatile, so I can easily apply the same moisturizer on both the face and the eye area. Not so long ago I discovered the organic brand Dr. Hauschka - I love their cream with rose extract Rose Day Cream. It's perfect for winter, but in summer I prefer the lighter version - Rose Day Cream Light. I apply it with patting movements and enjoy it - there is no heaviness and the feeling of a greasy film on my face.
The same brand has a wonderful night serum that firms the skin - Night Serum. I apply in the evening (sometimes even instead of a cream), and in the morning I wake up with radiant, toned skin. To enhance the effect, I use the firming mask Firming Mask from Dr. Hauschka - I think this is almost the main source of nutrition for my combination, prone to dryness, skin.
I wash and style my hair every day, but let's be honest - my curly locks need styling, so they always need to be either straightened or curled. To prevent the curls from suffering from this, I use nourishing shampoos - I have tried everything, it seems. For me, there is nothing better than Nashi Argan products - after their Deep Infusion moisturizing mask, the hair becomes silky and soft, like a child's.
Davines also has excellent shampoos, and in winter the brand released five types of express masks that are very convenient to take with you on a trip - honestly, I did not expect such a wow effect. The mask gives shine, and the hair seems to change its structure - but the main thing is not to keep it for too long, 3-5 minutes is enough. The product was specially developed for millennials who travel a lot and can't find time for full-fledged salon care - that's about me! There is even a mask for oily scalp in the line - I apply it to the roots for deep cleansing, and I combine the rest of the products in length and at the ends. All masks are in mono-packs with a twist-off cap, so I take them with me on vacation and don't worry about them running out quickly - the consumption is very economical.
But I don't use styling products so often. If I want to create volume, I take the Hot Style Constructor spray from L'Oréal - I apply a light layer along the entire length of the dried hair, and blow dry as usual. I pay more attention to shine and color - as I often lighten my hair (especially in summer), I use tinted shampoos. A great option is Alchemic Golden Shampoo, which gives a light honey tint to light strands. Despite the fact that the shatush does not spoil the hair too much, I use Olaplex 3 during each dyeing. We have a lot of copper in the water, which is why the bleached hair takes on a reddish tint. Olaplex just "cleans up" the color and removes all unnecessary dyes on your hair.
As far as makeup is concerned, I adhere to the Moskvichka concept - when we entered the market with a project, we made sure that everything was as natural as possible. But this does not mean that I do not like evening make-up - just if you make arrows and underline the mucous membrane with a black pencil, it should not look like the makeup of the wife of an Arab sheikh.
In everyday life, I do not paint much, and I think that the most important thing in makeup is the perfect tone. Plaster on the face is always a failure, so I choose the light Maestro Fusion base from Giorgio Armani, but first I apply the Velvet Blurring Primer Perfecting Base, Becca. The latter goes well with powdery textures - you can easily do with just a primer and powder without tone. I don't use concealer often, but if there is such a need, I choose Under Eye Brightening Corrector by Becca - I apply it with my fingertips, because this is the best way to blend it.
If I had to choose only one remedy that I can take with me everywhere, it would be a bronzer - pallor does not suit me, so I often manage only with it. Oddly enough, in Europe and America this is the best-selling make-up product, while in our country bronzers are not so popular - apparently, Russian girls do not really like tanning, but prefer contouring. My favorite - again from Becca, I put it on the cheekbones and always along the contour of the face.
I don’t forget about the highlighter - I choose the most popular shade Opal from Becca for the protruding parts of the face: in the inner corner of the eye, on the bridge of the nose, in the cupid's arch and always on the collarbone. The creamy texture blends perfectly with your fingertips, and the shade is perfect for any skin tone - no wonder it snapped up right away.
Instead of lipstick, I use tints - I put them on the “apples” of my cheeks, and from mascaras I keep loyalty only to Lash Queen by Helena Rubinstein. I trust only a professional make-up artist for bright eye makeup, so in my everyday life I choose a minimalist approach.
