The basis of the carcass, as a rule, is made up of wax and texturing agents, pigments, thickeners, emulsifiers and a solvent (aqueous or non-aqueous). Independent makeup artist Angelica Baklaga reveals the composition of the legendary mascara.
There are two types of mascara: the first type - the mascara is washed off with water, then, with tears, but not immediately, having a certain resistance to smearing. It is a classic emulsion that contains waxes, pigments and water as the main solvent. The second type of mascara is completely waterproof, does not smudge or wash off with water, sweat or tears.

Let's read the label of an inexpensive product from the Belarusian manufacturer Lux Visage XXL. Mascara belongs to the first type - it is an emulsion.
In the composition - waxes (synthetic, beeswax, paraffin, carnauba), which together with structure-forming agents (stearic acid, palmitic acid) will give a dense, creamy mass.
The hydroxyethyl cellulose thickener will support the mass, giving it pliability, and this component also thickens the lashes. Film former VP / eicosin copolymer will impart relative water resistance. Glyceryl stearate as an emulsifier will create a stable emulsion. Various solvents (butylene glycol, polybutene) help to distribute the pigment in the mass of the product.
The active ingredient of the product - acacia extract and rice extract - are more for marketing, it is difficult to imagine how they "help" in the care of eyelashes, but panthenol will care and moisturize.
Preservation in this product is "heavy" (phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, propylparaben). Although it is permissible / permitted in the means "for the eyes", this preservation can be attributed to the disadvantages of this mascara.
The composition of this mascara is basic, poor in terms of functional and pigment content. She will not be able to fully satisfy such qualities as convenient distribution, durability, quick drying, color saturation.
