BeautyHack columnist Angelica Baklaga reveals the composition of an important dietary supplement.
Fish oil is a very famous biological supplement of animal origin (it is a dietary supplement, but not a drug). Fish oil contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic), vitamin E, vitamin D, vitamin A. Historically, fish oil was noticed in the 19th century, in Norway: Peter Möller developed a method for obtaining oil from cod liver, and then everything started spinning. Nowadays, in many countries, the daily consumption of fish oil has become the norm.

It is clear that scientists could not ignore such a valuable product.
Now you can find a lot of scientific and pseudoscientific articles, studies, experiments that indicate the benefits of fish oil.
Let's try to briefly (and a little superficially, because there is a lot of scientific research for each component) to summarize the benefits of the components that make up fish oil.
Of greatest interest are omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic). The body itself is not able to synthesize these types of fatty acids, so it is necessary that they enter the body with food. Why is this so necessary? This type of unsaturated fatty acids is essential for the normal growth and development of children and for building cell membranes, they prevent the formation of "harmful" body fat. Our body is a big machine, with a well-functioning metabolism, with complex, multi-stage biochemical reactions. Omega-3 fatty acids are involved in various molecular processes. According to the latest research data, they have a positive effect on the development of the brain, on the cardiovascular system, have a positive effect on Alzheimer's, arthritis, atherosclerosis. There are also studies on the positive effect of DNA on telomeres (they perform the protective function of DNA).
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin, its main function is the normal growth and development of the body.
Vitamin A maintains the integrity of the epithelium and is responsible for good vision.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin commonly known as the “growth vitamin”. It is responsible for maintaining mineral homeostasis in the body, and therefore for the good development of bone tissue.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, its main function is to protect cell membranes from oxidative stress (antioxidant).
The composition of this fish oil is balanced in terms of the content of omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins A, E, D. It also contains the antioxidant E806 - a food additive that is necessary to protect fats from rancidity, so that during storage and after opening the product retains its properties … And the natural lemon flavor - fish oil smells and tastes like fish, which often turns people off and makes taking fish oil a little excruciating.
Remember: before taking an independent initiative in prevention or treatment, you should consult your doctor.
