Unfortunately, during pregnancy, many women face unexpected breakouts and acne. These are temporary hormonal changes. Take it easy - no need to run to the pharmacy, sweeping everything off the shelves. On the contrary, you need to be wary of new products in the beauty diet. Due to hormonal shifts, it is completely unclear how the skin will behave.

Conventional cosmetics and personal care products with active ingredients should also be pushed into the back of your closet. Avoid retinol and co-vitamin A derivatives by sticking to milder alternatives. If you are in doubt about the choice, be sure to seek advice from a beautician or dermatologist. And learn to read the label. If there are contraindications during pregnancy, the agent should never be used.

Simplify your beauty routine

To prevent any skin problems, it is best to simplify your beauty routine.

If approved by your gynecologist or pediatrician, here's my list of "helpers": one to two percent hydrogen peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and vitamin C. They are great at treating hormonal skin breakouts. Look for them among the ingredients of creams.

Stretch marks are common and familiar to 90% of pregnant women. It is impossible to completely prevent their occurrence. Genetics plays an important role here. But you can try to minimize them. There are several ways that work. Cocoa butter, shea butter and vitamin E worked for me. Use them twice a day, focusing on areas prone to stretch marks: breasts, thighs, abdomen and buttocks.

Eat healthy and eat a diet rich in vitamin E

Include avocados, nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, and collagen-rich foods in your diet. For example, organic bone broth can help improve skin elasticity. I also recommend not to forget about sports. There are so many options for pregnant women now!

Remember sunscreen

During pregnancy, the skin may be more sensitive to the sun - there is every chance of developing hyperpigmentation. Especially in the first trimester. Before going outside, use a cream with an SPF of at least 50. And do not forget to renew every two hours, even in cloudy weather.
