Plot
The plot of the picture is based on the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Downton Abbey, where at that time their belts were tightly tightened, judging by the absence of a maid, valet and nanny. After the news of the arrival of the royal couple in Downton, an impressive commotion begins, against the background of which personal dramas and victories unfold.
Writing the script for the film was entrusted to an already verified person. It was written by Julian Felous, who wrote the original series. During an interview with the BBC, Julian said that he had an unusual feeling when he saw the actors again at Highclere Castle in Haspshire: “I think a lot of them became very friendly, so the first days of filming were like starting school, when friends reunite with each other after summer vacation is a very happy time."
Felous also spoke about the difference between film and television script writing: “When you write a screenplay for a series, you can tell big stories with a maximum of three characters a week, all of them intertwined. In a film, each character must have their own story and must be complete."

Cast
Fans of the show, which ran for five years, will be delighted. The producers have almost completely retained the original cast. That is, in the picture you will see Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGomern, Michelle Docker, Jim Carter and many, many others. The only amendment: Lily James will be absent from the film, which is quite logical: "My character Rose has moved to New York, so it would be strange to bring her back."
