It became known that director Craig Gillespie, especially famous for the movie "Tonya Against All", took up the remake of "101 Dalmatians". At the same time, in the plot, he decided to focus on the story of the villainess - Cruella de Ville, who bred dogs for fur. And despite the fact that the filming of the project has just begun, and its premiere is scheduled for 2021, Disney has published the first frames for the poster. On it - Emma Stone in the title role. Her image has stirred up Disney fans around the world and left many questions. Here's why.
Leather instead of fur
In the frame, the main character wears a leather suit, and not the usual fur coat for Cruella de Ville. Actually, part of the image is revealed in her bow: dogs are needed for fur coats, here the villainess herself is metaphorically in her and walks around. On social media, users made two assumptions about why the creators could deviate from the usual image.

The first option - in a frame from the film, the heroine is shown at the beginning of her life in London, when she had not yet bred dogs for clothes. The second - the director changed the script and adjusted the image of the villain to the modern reality, when wearing fur is considered bad manners. But genuine leather is sharp, stylish, harmonious for the negative heroine, and at the same time the essence of the conflict is preserved.
The appearance of the actress inappropriate for the role
The choice of the director for the role of the main character is no less surprising. Still, Emma Stone, with her incredibly cute appearance, freckles and radiant smile, does not even remotely evoke the Cruella we saw in cartoons and films. So far, it seems that even makeup and clothing will not make us believe that Stone is capable of cracking down on puppies. And that signature Cruella look with madness? Hmm, hmm.

Emma Stone is too calm
Another fact about Emma Stone is that she is quite calm in real life, and in the movies she most often plays romantic and gentle heroines. Recall at least her roles in "La La Landa", "Servant", "This stupid love." Cruella is not just a villain, there is a powerful mix of elegance, glamor and madness. Fans of the cartoon write that, for example, Helena Bonham Carter would fit into this role much better. At least she has a huge number of such strange characters on her account.

True, Stone in The Favorite, playing the controversial Abigail Hill, greatly pushed the boundaries of her role, but, nevertheless, she still looked more cutie than a villain. However, perhaps, choosing an actress for the main role, the director was counting on such a reaction. There is no doubt that now his project will be discussed up to the premiere, and then after. And for Stone, comments can play into the hands: especially if she really succeeds in this role.
