BeautyHack special correspondent Anna Bond told how she chose the teeth whitening technique, and explained in detail how this procedure is done and why you should not be afraid of it.

I was never particularly worried about the shade of the teeth, but, of course, I wanted to get rid of the yellowish undertone. I use whitening pastes (but without fanaticism), I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, I don't smoke. If you try to understand whitening techniques using google, you will go crazy: nothing specific, a sea of options that are incomprehensibly different from each other, and not always clear responses about how everything goes and whether there is pain. Therefore, I decided to act on the contrary and chose a clinic that I can trust. This is how I ended up in AesteticA. Firstly, everyone wants to have smiles like Sofiko Shevardnadze, Irina Khakamada and Katya Lel (and this is where these girls go), and secondly, I am impressed by the very approach to the work of the chief physician of the clinic Artavazd Manukyan (it was he who did the bleaching). His work experience is 13 years,he has already become an Honorary Member of the Eurasian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry (EAEU) and the Eurasian Association of Osteology and has created a truly comfortable place for those who, like plague, are afraid of dentists.

AesteticA is located near the Kurskaya metro station, in a quiet area, in a closed and very beautiful well-groomed area in Podsosensky lane. There is a lot of natural light inside - this is important when you need to be in the dentist's chair for about an hour.

Artavazd immediately proposed Sapphire laser whitening - it is practiced at AesteticA for several reasons. First, the result is noticeable the first time. Second - Artavazd tested it on himself (you can see from the photo - the effect is excellent). The third is the most painless and fastest whitening technique (but, of course, it all depends on the sensitivity of the teeth). As Artavazd explained to me, almost all types of bleaching are identical. The main difference lies in the concentration of the active ingredient - hydrogen peroxide.

In the Sapphire whitening system, its concentration of 35% is the most optimal option. If there is more hydrogen peroxide, you can damage the enamel, less - not achieve the desired degree of whitening.

I have a small chip on my tooth, so before starting I could not help but ask about contraindications. Among them are damage to the enamel (micro- and macrocracks), a wedge-shaped defect (when the enamel becomes thinner, dentin is visible and the teeth become super sensitive). Whitening will also be ineffective if you have a diagnosis of tetracycline teeth - this is a congenital feature, so the problem needs to be solved in another way, for example, by installing veneers. With chips, the procedure can be done, only after the doctor advised to separately put a filling in this place. Move on!

We started with cleaning the teeth with the AirFlow device - during whitening, there should be no plaque on the enamel. It seemed to me important that Artavazd was already working with a magnifying device at this stage. Later, he explained that this is necessary in order not to injure soft tissues and not miss anything. We brushed the teeth that enter the smile zone (10 at the top and 10 at the bottom), because we decided to whiten only them. Bottom line: AirFlow took 10 minutes, all this time the plaque was removed with a solution of water and calcium carbonate under a high pressure of air - absolutely painless. It's great that AirFlow can be done right before whitening, rather than going to the dentist twice. The main thing is that a competent specialist works with your teeth!

After AirFlow, I was given a Nurofen pill so that I would not feel spontaneous lumbago during whitening, and a fixing plate was inserted into my mouth, drying my teeth.

The next step is to isolate the gums with a protective polymer. Outwardly, it is a blue gel, which, after being applied to the gums, is illuminated by a light lamp and quickly hardens. This is to prevent the bleaching agent from getting on the gums. At this time, the assistant applied a moisturizing balm to the lips (it is included in the set of the whitening system) - a trifle, but nice! The procedure also took no more than 10 minutes.

Then we started whitening! First, Artavazd checked the texture of the drug, it is delivered to the clinic from the United States and stored under special conditions in the refrigerator - the consistency should remain dense all this time. The doctor applied the gel to my teeth, and they put me under a Sapphire activator lamp for 30 minutes (hence the name of the procedure), handing me a notebook and a pen in case of force majeure or just a desire to chat. The doctor warned that pain should be reported.

We originally planned to do the whitening twice for 30 minutes. But after the first stage they decided to stop. Firstly, sensitivity appeared, my teeth began to hurt noticeably, but bearable (then nurofen saved me a couple of times during the day). And secondly, we achieved an excellent result. Teeth are whiter by several shades - more than enough! In general, one of the main advantages of the clinic, which I personally identified for myself, is the desire for naturalness and the ability to stop in time to pursue beauty. As Artavazd explained, the main thing is that the shade of the teeth matches the color of the white of the eyes.

Hygiene after bleaching

72 hours after the procedure, the doctor advised to follow the "white diet" without dyes.

During whitening, a dehydration reaction takes place, moisture leaves the surface layers of the enamel, so the teeth turn white. But the level of moisture is quickly restored, and therefore a "white diet" is needed so that the liquid does not stain teeth.

By the way, green tea also contains a dye - I only drank water. If you really want to, coffee and tea can be drunk through a straw.

A month after the procedure, the doctor allowed the use of bleaching pastes with hydrogen peroxide, but it is better to alternate them with the usual ones (in the morning - bleaching, in the evening - usual). At home, the doctor also advised the use of an irrigator to protect teeth from decay.

Sapphire can be repeated in a year and a half or two (I don’t exclude that I will return to the clinic!), And before that, the effect can be maintained with home bleaching methods - they are good for this, because you cannot achieve the same result from scratch as in the clinic. work out.

Important questions

During the procedure, I asked the doctor a couple more questions that might help you too.

1. Can whitening be done during pregnancy and lactation?

Pregnancy, feeding is not a contraindication. If the patient has a short term and she is emotional, then it is better to refuse the procedure. The level of sensitivity of the teeth plays an important role. If you know that you have a high it, it is better not to do whitening.

2. If I have fillings, when should they be changed - before or after bleaching?

It is better to replace the fillings after bleaching, after 72 hours. Immediately after the procedure, the color can be very white, but then it will darken a little, so at AesteticA they change the fillings in a week.

3. If I have darker canines, do I need to whiten all my teeth?

Canines are more powerful and have more dentine, which makes them appear darker. It is normal for the fangs to appear slightly darker after bleaching. Your goal is to create a natural smile. If after whitening all your teeth you still care about the shade of the canines, you can whiten them separately. But this is extremely rare.

4. What foods affect the shade of teeth?

Any dye (natural or artificial) darkens the teeth, so it is important to clean them well. If you do this in the morning and in the evening, then drinks like coffee and tea will not affect the color of the teeth.
