BeautyHack editor Natalia Kapitsa shared her personal experience of classes in a choreographic school and said that she was given 10 years of daily training at the barn.

At the age of 6, I was taken to two lines at once: a gymnasium and a ballet school. The desire to become Maya Plisetskaya (no less) was mine - no projections and unrealized ambitions of my parents.

By this age, I had already managed to try myself in the role of a “fat weaver”, a manufacturer of soft toys and a violinist - the fact that the relationship with this instrument did not work out, could not but rejoice my whole family, despite the excellent attitude towards art.

I was taken to a choreographic school … by a neighbor. Once my "workingmama" and "workingpapa", who were raising children without a support group of grandparents, left me with her for a couple of hours. Walking with a kind and smiling aunt Sveta from the store, I saw an ad (thanks to my brother for teaching me to read at 4) about recruiting for a ballet class. Making eyes like a cat from "Shrek", she asked me to go home through school. The child's desire is the law. And now the miniature Tatyana Mikhailovna with an ideal posture makes a verdict: "The girl has no data, but you come, we will stretch it!"

The seventh swan in the tenth row

The ballet school is 4 hours of classes every day, exams 2 times a year and a reporting concert at the end of May. For a child who does not have natural stretching and eversion, this is an additional several hours a week at the machine, a sea of tears and a serious tempering of character.

Surprisingly, I didn't need to be forced into the ballet class "out of hand": I walked with great pleasure, imagining how I was dancing the solo part in the ballet "Giselle", and my "workingpapa" sits in the front row with a huge bouquet of lilies. I was only in my dreams. And "workingpapa" didn't go to my concerts either.

I remember our first performance on the big stage in the second grade. The number was called "The Music Box". Doll, ballerina, society lady, cute flower girl, clown…. Which role do you think I got? Bingo: clown! The lipstick-painted red mouth was not the worst. That day, I forgot my Czech women, and I had to go on stage in woolen socks. For the next few years, I quietly experienced this shame, not saying a word to my parents.

The years passed. I worked hard, destroying two pairs of pointe shoes a month, but there was not much progress: at every performance of the choreographic school, I danced the seventh swan in the tenth row. My character did not allow me to drop everything and give up: I worked like a draft horse.

Epilogue

When I say that I graduated from ballet school, in 90% of cases I see how I automatically get 10 pluses from my interlocutor. There is a sparkle in his eyes, he expects me to tell the story of how, through inhuman labor and effort, I became a famous ballerina and danced the solo part at the Bolshoi Theater (seems to be how such stories end?). I will disappoint everyone who was waiting for such an ending.

After 10 years, I received a certificate of graduation from the G.R. Screens and began to prepare for admission to the medical university. And I danced the solo….

It was a graduation concert. 16 people performed the number "Rehearsal" to the "Storm" by the brilliant Vanessa May. Of course, I was in the last line (consistency is a sign of mastery).

At about 30 seconds, I saw a huge bouquet of lilies in the first row and familiar, beloved eyes. It was my dad - the most important and long-awaited spectator! That day I danced like a goddess (for some reason I am sure of this), regularly pulling my sock and holding my back.

3 minutes of euphoria, and now he rises on stage with a huge bouquet and carries it to the tenth row to the seventh swan. At that moment I realized that 10 years were not in vain.

What did it give me?

And now about the main thing. What does a ballet school give a child?

Self-discipline is the first and most important "gift". No matter how much I wanted to walk with friends until late in the evening, the feeling that tomorrow again to the machine won, and I went to bed (myself!).

Stretching - yes, but I said goodbye to this "superpower" when I put my certificate on the shelf - to maintain it, you need to regularly stretch.

Posture - alas, but over the years of study in medicine, not a trace of it remained, but scoliosis worsened - hello, third degree!

Strong character is debatable. The obstinacy and desire to punch through the concrete wall with my head came from my dad. And ballet has nothing to do with it. The character is formed in the first three years of life, and no circumstances at 6 are able to radically change it.

Knowledge is definitely! In addition to classical, historical, everyday, ballroom and folk dances, the ballet school teaches the history of choreography, listening to music and solfeggio (you could choose an additional instrument yourself; mine was a piano). It was a fascinating and very rewarding acquaintance.

Muscle "memory" - yes, and yes again! 10 years of daily physical activity were not in vain: the consequences of uncontrolled consumption of mother's pies in 2 weeks are eliminated in the hall - the relief quickly returns.

Is it necessary?

I am deeply convinced that perseverance cannot stand up to talent. No matter how much you sit studying the stylistics of the Russian language, you will not write War and Peace if you have no ability to do so.

You can play football as much as you like without missing a single training session, but you still won't become Pele - a genius born once in a hundred years! I think this is exactly what needs to be explained to a child when he "burns" with something. Every mother sees a talent in her child, but sooner or later she realizes that he will not become the first racket of the world - and the older the child, the more difficult it is for him to accept it without earning a couple of complexes.

You also need to be able to be a seventh swan in the tenth row, and it is much more difficult than dancing a solo part - believe the experienced “swan”!
