Karina: How I Made Beautiful Curls Myself

I have already talked about my favorite Dyson brand hairdryer, which has no alternatives at all. But the manufacturer did not stop there, and in October of this year he delighted the beauty lovers with a novelty - the Dyson Airwrap styler (the good news was published here).

Of course, it could not be like all the previous ones and differ only in less weight / more attachments. The main and main advantage is the way of working. I decided to try the new product and now I am sharing my impressions.

What problems do you most often face when trying to create your own styling? For me, the main ones are tangled curls (especially at the stage when you start to hurry up and realize in horror that half of the hair has not yet been covered), the potential to burn them (you overexpose a little and feel how the strands are overheated, and the thermal protection is barely able to cope), and also an uncontrolled flow of air (because of it, by the way, in the end it turns out that I tried in vain, the hair is frizzy, and there can be no talk of any beautiful styling).

The new styler uses a technology by which air flows along the surface of the hair, enveloping it. Thus, a kind of "combo" of air flow and heating is obtained. You can simply dry your hair or create curls of the desired firmness and volume - and the styling will always look great.

And that's not it! With this styler you can dry your hair and style at the same time. The nozzle brushes smooth the curls during the drying process and smoothen the cuticles - the strands become smooth and shiny. The bristles themselves take a position in which the tension of the hair is created - no matter in which direction you dry the curls, the flow will go along the curls, and in any case they will turn out neat and beautiful.

In total, there are three options for sets - for coarse hair, for thin and full (it makes sense to buy the latter for the purpose of "for the whole family").

I'll tell you about my experience of using the styler. I have long, undyed hair that naturally curls, but is easily smoothed out. Most often, my styling is airy curls: I bring my curls in order. The novelty helped me to make curls no worse than in the salon.

There are several extremely important rules of use, which Julia Goncharova, the Dyson beauty trainer, told me about at one time:

1) When starting to work, the hair should be slightly damp (about 20%). It is recommended to first dry them using the special drying attachment that comes with the kit. Hair should be light and slightly damp before styling.

2) For the effect to last longer, be sure to use styling. I use Evo's Mister Fantastic universal spray as thermal protection (I wrote about it here) or Redken's Full Effect 04 moisturizing mousse volume (we showed the best volume products here).

3) Now about the styling itself. I take a small strand, go to its middle, leaving 10-15 cm. I bring the styler to the tip and turn it on. And then the magic happens: due to the air flow, the hair itself winds on the nozzle. This is the Coanda effect: a stream of air at high speed envelops the hair and gives it a shape. I hold it for 10 seconds, then turn on the cold mode for another 10 seconds, then turn off the styler and only then remove the strand.

4) Keep in mind that in order to wind the curls, you need to use two nozzles: one for the right side, the other for the left. The effect should be mirror-like.

My perfect curls are ready. I spread them with my hands and enjoy the result: neat, firm, voluminous! Fast (the process took no more than 20 minutes), easy, convenient and safe! Separately, I want to note the delicacy of the temperature regime, which makes it easy to style without extreme temperatures, saving time and preventing tangling.

I would also like to say about the price: yes, for a styler it is really high. But remember that one styling for long hair costs on average 4,000 - 5,000 rubles, and now you can do it yourself at home. Thus, a new instrument in your collection will quickly pay off and will delight you for many years.
