We met with Lena Krygina in the "temple of beauty" - her studio Krygina Studio on Kropotkinskaya. In ordinary life, Lena hardly uses makeup - a little blush, mascara and lip balm. Jeans, an oversized white shirt, a laconic bun - the makeup artist looks stylish and simple at the same time. Lena drinks espresso and talks about her book with inspiration - this is a "child" who has finally been born.
How did you get the idea to write a book? In today's world, when everyone watches blogs and videos, books seem to have receded into the background
In my situation, a book about makeup is logical. When you work hard and make your profession fashionable, be sure to delve into literature. I noticed that there are practically no useful books on makeup. I have, probably, all possible "library" on this topic. The books are great, but they are all simply inspirational: beautiful pictures, creative make-up, no detailed instructions.
I tried to imagine: I am an ordinary woman and I want to learn how to paint, what are these pictures to me? They will give the makeup artist new ideas, new textures, but why do I need all this?
So the idea arose to write a book - a basic guide to makeup, a fundamental "treatise" that you can always use.
How long have you been working on the book?
I sketched it pretty quickly - in a week. I just wrote out all the ideas that came up in my head. But this, of course, was not a book, but only a "frame". I finished the rest within three and a half years!
Where will it be sold?
Everywhere! In bookstores and even cosmetic chains.
Please tell us in a few words about the content of the book
It is built very logically. I talk about everything that is needed for makeup: place, idea, light, cosmetics, brushes, textures, tips.
A huge section is dedicated to tools: you can just open a book and go with it to the store.
I refer to stories from my life: when I first came to buy brushes, I had enough time and money to buy a complete set. The seller "dumped" in front of me dozens of brushes tied with rubber bands! They are all different, and there are a lot of them - this literally made me sick, even dizzy. And nobody can advise! - "And what is this for?" - "This is for the shadows." Exhaustive …
I made my purchase only the third time. Before that, I had to spend several hours surfing the Internet. But then I was already studying make-up, painted with my three Chinese brushes … And if a person is not at all privy to this topic? What is he to do? In my book, I have laid out everything on the shelves - you do not need to look for anything, the list of brushes that you need is in front of you.
I do not amuse anyone with myths that you buy one brush and put it on. Because it is impossible. Tools are very important in makeup. Of course, this is if we are talking about high-quality makeup, which decorates, not spoils.
Now everything is on the Internet, even in your blog. How can this book compete with video? Lena Krygina advised the same brushes in the blog for a long time
You cannot tell about everything. Besides, video is not so responsible. When you write it down, you understand that if something is wrong, you can write something else, delete, remount. This is not possible with a book. You do it forever, and this is a completely different level of responsibility.
In fact, there is not a lot of information on the topic on the Internet: bloggers are people who talk a lot, but not always on business.
Even I can find a Smoky Ice lesson, but it needs to be reviewed 5 times to repeat the makeup. And in the book everything is painted step by step - it will be even easier to learn from it.
Probably, one day the printing business all over the world will end, but we will definitely not live to see it. Because the book is inspiration. On the Internet, you quickly get an answer to a question, and a book is also an aesthetic pleasure.
