Ho'o + pono-pono = Ho'oponopono. The very name of this practice is very uplifting, agree? But this relaxed Hawaiian ponopono has a serious meaning. "Correct a mistake, do it right" is what it means.
Blogger and expert on working with the subconscious Maria Samarina - about why practice is needed and how it works.
Where did ho'oponopono come from?
This method was used by Hawaiian shamans - kahuns for almost 5 thousand years, and their word on the islands was considered law. Polynesians have made serious decisions for hundreds of years only after this practice.

Perhaps they would have preferred to use it themselves, if one of the shamans, Morrnah Nalamaku Simeone, had not decided to carry it to the masses. She worked hard to simplify the complex Hawaiian technique to make it understandable. She succeeded so much that she was even invited to teach this method at the United Nations, UNESCO and the most famous universities in the world. For her services in popularizing ho'oponopono, Morrnach was awarded the title of "Living Treasure of Hawaii", but she remained a very humble person all her life.
More about ho'oponopono can be found in Joe Vitale's 2007 Life Without Limits. Perhaps that's all. But as soon as there was a request for slowing down, spirituality, this meditation began to spread more widely. You will see, soon everyone around will pronounce this word without hesitation!
The essence of ho'oponopono

To understand how the method works, you need to realize that absolutely everything in this world is a form of energy. Every physical body of any size, every electromagnetic wave, all the elements and even any thought are born by a common force that fills the universe. You can call it universal Consciousness. Humanity is just getting closer to studying the global laws that govern the world, but it is already clear that everything interacts with everything. Micro-, macro- and megaworlds differ only in size and are excellent at exchanging information.
If we are also particles of a single whole, then we are the carriers of universal consciousness. Therefore, each of our thoughts affects everything that happens and we are responsible for everything: both good and bad. But, alas, we can answer, but we cannot control everything. Our task is to accept what is happening and try to cleanse it with the best that exists in the world - love.
Confused? Well, there is a little … However, there is evidence that the University of Virginia professor, practicing psychologist Everett L. Worthington, Jr., Ph.D. for many years he has been researching how our body and our brain change during the time of sincere forgiveness and acceptance of situations. The process has indeed proven to be very positive and effective.
By changing only our own thoughts, we correct what our attention is directed to. We let in the light and by this we harmonize the world, because we are one with it.
How to do it
Morrnach Nalamaku Simeone greatly simplified the ancient Hawaiian ritual and made ho'oponopono applicable to everyone. The main thing is that it remains effective.
The whole procedure consists in focusing attention on what needs to be corrected, and repeating the four main phrases:
I love you
I thank you
Forgive me
I'm sorry
These phrases can be pronounced anytime and anywhere, in any language, as long as they are clear to you and come from the heart. You may not even believe in their healing powers. But since you have come to ho'oponopono, try to put in them all the power of emotion you can. Imagine what you are working with, a situation or a person. If it's a person, get rid of the ego. Try to see him in the form of a small child or just a pure soul. Repeat the four ho'oponopono phrases for 2 to 20 minutes a day until you feel relief. It is not the strength of your faith in Hawaiian practice that will help you, but the energy you are trying to convey.

Why these phrases
- I love you - these words open my heart. It is they who connect you to the forces of the world and begin the process of change.
- I thank you - acceptance phrase. There is a tremendous power hidden in gratitude, and the Universe always responds to it when the time comes.
- Forgive me - you accept everything that happened without offense or negativity. There is nothing to stop you from moving on.
- I'm very sorry - you admit your responsibility for what happened. And this is what gives you the opportunity to change everything.
The point is that the world is always a reflection of ourselves. It is a mirror that brings back what we ourselves have shared.
In what areas does ho'oponopono help?
In the practice of Maria Samarina, there were cases when the use of ho'oponopono helped to pay back almost hopelessly high debts, to reconcile long-standing quarreling relatives, to reconcile those who quarreled. With grievances, the ho'oponopono technique, by the way, works in both directions: it turns out to forgive the offenders, and to allow oneself to throw off the burden of regrets and long-standing guilt.
Ho'oponopono also copes well with stress and family conflicts - for a couple of minutes you repeat “I love you, forgive me”, and the desire to throw heavy objects evaporates!
In general, these simple healing words cope with the main evil of our time: excessive anxiety, the feeling of "thickening clouds" and psychosomatic diseases.
