Self-isolation is especially difficult for those who constantly dye their hair. And while beauty salons have developed a new system - to deliver paint with instructions to regular customers home, some are trying to get by with folk recipes. Among them is the singer Lana Del Rey, who lightened the strands with lemon juice.

“When you have no choice but to return to blond, because Kevin Tracy and Jacob are not around, and there are only lemons to tint the roots in the next nine weeks,” - wrote Lana Del Rey on Instagram.

The singer also posted a selfie in which the shade of her hair really looks two or three tones lighter than before. Moreover, the color, in our opinion, seems very beautiful. Is it really possible to get a similar tone with the help of one lemon? We asked about this from hair stylist Ekaterina Medvedeva.

- Lemon juice can really lighten hair. But this method is only suitable for summer, when you, after applying the juice to the strands, immediately go out into the sun. Thanks to the citric acid contained in lemon, the hair will fade much faster, you will get a very beautiful ombre or highlighting effect. But there are two important nuances. First, the lightening will be noticeable only on light blond and light brown hair (brown-haired women and brunettes are unlikely to achieve light strands). The second caveat is that lemon juice dries hair, so after such "coloring", pay attention to moisturizing the strands with balms and oils.

How to lighten strands with lemon juice

Squeeze the juice out of a couple of lemon wedges, removing pulp and seeds. Then apply the juice to the desired strands with a cotton pad or brush. Leave it on your hair for a few minutes to an hour and a half, going out in the sun at this time. Then wash your hair with cool water shampoo. You can repeat the procedure after a few days (maximum two to three times).

Contraindications

This coloring method is categorically contraindicated for owners of very dry and weakened hair and / or very dry scalp. Otherwise, you will only make the situation worse.

Also, avoid staining with lemon juice if you have an allergic reaction to citrus fruits.
