“The future of warmth” - with this slogan, the eco-brand Pangaia presented a collection of winter jackets that eco-activists and vegans will definitely appreciate! It is based on the innovative Flwrdwn technology, which includes biodegradable materials based on wildflowers, biopolymers and airgel. And they, according to the manufacturers, keep warm no worse than the usual goose or duck down. In addition, these components do not cause allergies and are fully recyclable.
According to Hypebeast, Pangaia researchers have been working on new technologies in Italy for 10 years. But now they are happy to present their work to people and thereby "contribute to the development of the fashion of the future."
The brand's collection includes three models of unisex jackets: short in white and black and in midi length with removable sleeves in dark blue. You can buy them on the official Pangaia website: the cost of the first two is $ 550 (about 35 thousand rubles), the second - $ 750 (about 48 thousand rubles). Interestingly, the company donates every 1% of the sale to the 5 Gyres fund, which studies the problem of plastic!

The BeauyHack editors asked an expert if Flwrdwn technology is really our future: how much it retains heat and is suitable for frost in our country.
Anna Guzeeva, founder of eco-friendly brand Freedomtag (@freedomtag): - Modern eco-friendly and ethical technologies are our future. Yes, now replacing goose down with a flower one brings a smile, but in a few years this should become a trend. Not so long ago, eco-fur and eco-leather entered our life, and now we can no longer imagine a modern stylish everyday look without these materials. I am sure that the trends towards environmental protection and conscious consumption will only increase. If we talk about the new Pangaia technology, then you can definitely believe it. Still, it should be understood that the heating components in the brand's jackets will be a biopolymer, which is also responsible for biodegradability, and an airgel that increases operational properties. Fluff of flowers is, rather, to create a certain mood and aesthetics. For reference: Biopolymer (or bio-down, artificial down) is a component that was discovered by the American and Japanese companies DuPont and Sorona back in the 70s of the XX century. Initially, it was used in clothing for polar explorers or people whose work or lifestyle is associated with severe weather conditions and severe frosts. Biopolymer has the ability to keep warm up to minus 40C! It is also classified as an environmentally friendly material: it was officially confirmed that its production requires 30% less energy costs, so that manufacturers received an award in the field of developing green chemistry. Disadvantages of biopolymer: material from it can deform at very high temperatures; things with it are usually more expensive than natural fluff. Airgel- material that was invented by the American chemist Stephen Kistler in 1931. After a while, NASA space suits began to be created on its basis, today airgel is used for winter clothing. The main feature is almost 100% preservation of human heat, but at the same time - "ventilation effect", in which it will not be hot in the premises.
