Water speeds up metabolism
How? The average water temperature in the pool is about 21 degrees. In order to maintain the usual 36.6 in such conditions, the body accelerates metabolism. The heat capacity of water is 4 times higher than that of air, the thermal conductivity is 25 times. In the pool, we spend 50-80% more energy to maintain basal metabolism.
Swimming improves breathing
Swimming trains the respiratory muscles and improves the condition of the pulmonary alveoli. During exercise, breathing is even and deep - not the same as when running or cycling. During training, such areas of the lungs are involved in the water, which exclude congestion.
The pool does not overload the joints
Outside of water, the body presses on the joints with all its weight. The pressure is evenly distributed in the pool. All joints, including the intervertebral, knee, hip and elbow, are subject to light stress. When swimming, you make movements in conditions close to weightlessness - the muscles work, but do not overstrain. Swimming has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system
The horizontal position of the body, repetitive movements, deep diaphragmatic breathing and a balanced body condition promote blood flow to the heart - this greatly facilitates its work and increases stroke volume. Swimming helps to reduce systolic pressure and increase vascular elasticity.
Swimming is an atraumatic sport
The risk of injury in the pool is minimal. Stretching the ligaments, for example, when swimming, is almost impossible. Water is too dense a medium that does not allow making sudden movements.
Swimming is indicated for body asymmetry
Scoliosis and asymmetry are direct indications for swimming. The effect can be easily explained. When you practice in the pool, you make symmetrical movements of the right and left sides - otherwise you will move in a circle.
