What "tricks" in makeup and styling are useless and even dangerous? We dispel popular myths together with make-up artist Tima Leo.

Blow-dry the eyelash curler
Make-up artists have come up with a beauty trick: to heat the eyelash curler so that the eyelashes hold their shape better. This is true according to the laws of physics, but in reality it is dangerous: the forceps are large, and there is a risk of burning the thin skin of the eyelids.
I recommend to do without heating - it is better to hold the tongs a little longer.
Heat the pencil to make it soft and firm
They say that if you heat a pencil with a lighter, you get the effect of a gel eyeliner. This is partly true - the texture of the pencil will become softer. But it will not become resistant to heat.
Using such a pencil is also inconvenient - you will only smear it over the eyelid, and in the worst case, it will burn the skin. It's easier to find an eyeliner or pencil with the softness you want.
Dilute mascara
When mascara dries up, many dilute it with different means - for example, eye drops. Chemists and technologists do not recommend doing this - you just spoil the composition.
I advise you not to risk it and buy a new mascara. If it dries up too often, there are small road formats.
Disinfect lipstick with alcohol
When shop assistants treat lipstick with alcohol, it's not really disinfection - it's just part of the service. Bacteria do not live in lipstick, because there is no water in the composition. It contains only wax with pigments, oils and other caring components.
Clean brushes with special products
Express disinfectants for brushes can damage the lint. Unless you are a makeup artist, there is no need to use them every day.
The best way to clean your brushes is to wash them with any baby shampoo. This way they will last you longer.
Shirring hair for volume
For volume of hair at the roots, hairdressers use corrugated tongs. It works, but not everyone succeeds in creating a beautiful effect. Only do it if you know how.
Some tips: start to crimp the strand as close to the base as possible, do not crimp your hair along the entire length, do not overdo it with pressing. Be sure to leave the top of your hair uncrimped to hide the fake relief.
Apply moisturizer to lips
Many makeup artists use face cream instead of lip balm to save time. But the skin of the lips is different in structure from the skin of the face and skin around the eyes. We don't put foot cream on our face. So it is with the lips.
The purpose of lip products is to nourish them with specific ingredients to soften and smooth the surface. For example, biometric peptides help a lot in this. Therefore, leave even the most expensive cream for its intended use - it will not give a better effect than regular hygienic lipstick from the pharmacy.
