Adherents of a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition argue that eating fast carbohydrates in the afternoon is fraught with extra inches on the hips. They increase blood glucose levels and negatively affect the functioning of the pancreas. White bread, sugar, pasta, white rice for dinner at the adherents of healthy lifestyle are strictly prohibited. Dr. Adam Collins is convinced that it is not the time of day that plays a role in the processing of carbohydrates, but the length of the carbohydrate-free period that preceded the meal.

It is believed that eating carbohydrates before bed is much more harmful than eating carbohydrate breakfasts. And this seems logical: during the day, physical activity is much higher - everything superfluous is easy to burn, having walked a couple of extra kilometers. Before going to bed, the body's energy consumption is reduced, and carbohydrates are easily transformed into subcutaneous fatty tissue. This is in theory. How in practice?
University of Surrey doctor Adam Collins conducted the study. He invited volunteers with normal physiological parameters to test for themselves how their body copes with carbohydrates in the morning and evening. An additional goal of the study is to test whether the metabolism can adapt to high carbohydrate intake at different times of the day.

The subjects were instructed to record all foods eaten during the day (including fruit). For the first five days, they ate carbohydrates only for breakfast. For the next five days, the subjects adhered to proper nutrition. For the last five days, the subjects ate protein foods for breakfast, carbohydrate foods for dinner. At the same time, the doctor measured the blood glucose level of the volunteers every day.
After the first five days, the level fluctuated around 15.9 units, and after protein breakfasts and carbohydrate dinners, this figure dropped to 10.4 units.
Scientists have come to the conclusion that the role in the processing of carbohydrates is not played by the time of day, but by the duration of the carbohydrate-free period that preceded the meal. If you haven't eaten carbohydrates for a long time, your metabolism will be ready to process them at any time of the day!
The main rule: do not overload the body and maintain the balance of KBZhU. If you've eaten too much for dinner, go for a protein meal for breakfast. In contrast, after eating a brownie for breakfast, limit yourself to a serving of fish and vegetables for dinner.
