Ten years ago, London-based fitness trainer and nutritional expert James Duigan first introduced the Clean and Lean philosophy to the world. It is based on regular exercise and a nutritious diet to help you achieve your ideal body without extra pounds and toxins. The system, developed by James, is distinguished by a humane approach and the absence of exhausting workouts: some of them can be performed at home, and one lesson takes no more than 15 minutes.
Clean and Lean has become a full-fledged brand, with six books (so far only available in English), a video guide for pregnant women, as well as multivitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, a line of teas and supplements for protein shakes.
The idea turned out to be successful, and the next step was the appearance of the Bodyism brand - under the two brands they began to produce not only supplements and books, but also clothing for sports, which can be found, for example, on the website net-a-porter.com. This year, the first collaboration of Charlotte Olympia x Bodyism took place - a sports uniform with ironic prints. Add to this the opportunity to work out individually with the best trainers in London and you have a dream wellness system.
Among James Duigan's clients were Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Elle Macpherson.
This spring, the first Bodyism studio opened in Notting Hill, London, making workouts even more accessible. There are professional trainers, yoga, Pilates, ballet instructors, sports masseurs, fascial therapists and even healers at your service. The current training schedule can be found on the company's official website in the Members Login section.
All classes are based on properly selected physical exercises and a competent assessment of the state of the body. The main goal is to eliminate excess body fat, which can be caused by stress, muscle imbalance, emotional stress, toxicity with heavy metals or hormonal imbalance. An hour-long workout begins with an effective 20-minute warm-up that includes stretching and squats.
The main workout consists of exercises on the buttocks (neglecting them, girls often suffer from lower back pain) and high-intensity exercises on an ellipsoid or bicycle. The latter are performed only for a few minutes at a large interval so that the level of cortisol does not rise in the body (otherwise blood pressure will rise). In addition, after a stressful intense workout, your body will add cholesterol and glucose.
In none of his books, James Duigan advises to limit yourself in food. The author, on the contrary, calls for fighting the feeling of guilt that always arises after eating a piece of cake. A small portion of "forbidden" will not hurt your figure, and you can more than compensate for small weaknesses with a healthy diet and regular exercise. The main goal is to eliminate toxins, the main cause of body fat. The priority is foods rich in proteins and healthy fats. Caffeine, refined sugar, alcohol, and canned foods will have to be discarded.
Where to study?
If everything is clear with nutrition (look for a guide to action in any of the Clean and Lean books), then training is available only in a few corners of the planet. In addition to a studio in London, you can immerse yourself in the philosophy of bodism in the Maldives at the Amilla Fushi Resort, in Capri at the Capri Palace Hotel and in Turkey at the D-Hotel Maris. In each, you plan your own program, which may include workouts, Clean and Lean meals, and spa treatments.
For inspiration, we recommend short workouts that can be found on the Bodyism Facebook page or the brand's YouTube channel.
