In addition to decorative cosmetics, almost every girl has a serious arsenal of skin care products. But sometimes even the most expensive creams have no visible effect. And a low-quality product is far from the most common reason for this. BeautyHack understands the most common mistakes in skin care together with cosmetologist Viktoria Honcharuk.

Using a night cream during the day
Dividing creams into day and night is not just a marketing ploy. They differ in different compositions and concentrations of active active ingredients. In addition, night creams may contain ingredients that cause pigmentation or allergic reactions when exposed to sunlight. In addition to moisturizing agents, daytime ingredients contain ingredients that protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation, temperature changes and other adverse environmental factors.
“Creams with retinol can only be used at night, as exposure to UV rays can cause age spots and even burns. In addition, night creams contain a more nutritious, thick foundation, so they cannot be used under a foundation. Until the age of 25, I would recommend using a universal remedy suitable for skin type. But after that you need to separate the creams into day and night."
Using highly foaming skin cleansers
Rule: the more foam, the clearer the skin - does not work. Excellent foaming ability indicates the presence of chemicals in the composition that destroy the natural skin barrier. This can lead to dermatitis, premature aging and pigmentation. When choosing a cleanser, go for products that are high in fatty acids and mild cleansing ingredients.
“Foams with a wide chemical composition can irritate the skin,” says Victoria. "It's better to choose products with fewer ingredients, fragrances and unnatural additives."
Abuse of peels and scrubs

Using exfoliators too often or inappropriately can lead to serious skin problems. Today, many manufacturers have begun to include peeling ingredients in their daily creams. Their action is much softer and more delicate. If your cosmetics has a mild exfoliating effect, avoid scrubs to avoid injury and dermis thinning.
“I am an ardent opponent of scrubbing the skin of the face, because every day I face problems that have appeared after using scrubs: dilated vessels of the skin of the face (rosacea), increased manifestation of acne. If you still do not want to give up this remedy, you need to apply it no more than once every 7 days. Abrasive particles remove not only keratinized skin particles, but also the protective water-fat membrane. Result: peeling and inflammation,”concludes Victoria.
Removing tonic from the list of daily care products
Some people consider tonic to be completely useless product. And in vain. Cosmetologists say that in no case should you exclude it from the list of daily care products. Cleansers upset the pH of the skin. On the contrary, a tonic restores it and provides additional moisture.
“I recommend using toner and cleansing foam from the same manufacturer. These funds must be paired! Facial cleansing products alkalize the skin (but not all!), While the toner normalizes the pH. In addition, the composition of the latter really includes moisturizing components that prevent the appearance of flaking."
Using drying agents for oily skin
Many oily skin care products contain alcohol, which dries out small rashes, and at the same time makes the sebaceous glands work with a vengeance. Experts say that the only way to restructure their functioning to produce less sebum is with the help of oils! They can be applied under a night cream or used as a homemade product.
“Alcohol-based toners dissolve the water / fat protective coat, resulting in excess moisture evaporation and flaking. The protective functions of the skin are reduced. New inflammatory elements are appearing,”comments Victoria.
Cleansing Milk Elimination
It is impossible to cleanse your skin perfectly with a gel wash! Particles of cosmetics still remain in the pores, clogging them, which leads to the appearance of rashes and inflammation. Correct cleansing consists of three stages: removing cosmetics with milk, washing with soft foam and toning!
“Once a week, more thorough cleansing of the skin is needed. For these purposes, I recommend using enzymatic surface peels. This stimulates blood circulation, removes impurities, and the dermis acquires a more even color."
