This year marks the 25th anniversary of the brand's founding, and this week Bobbie Brown announced that she is leaving the post of creative director. But we are not afraid! The already legendary Bobby Brown founded the eponymous cosmetics brand in 1991. Prior to this event, she worked as an independent makeup artist for ten years, and the real success brought her makeup Naomi Campbell for the cover of Vogue magazine in 1987. The photographer, by the way, was Patrick Demarchelier on that important shoot for Bobby.
Bobbie had been hatching the idea of creating her own funds for a long time. “For a long time, it has been difficult to find cosmetics that are perfect for any skin. And I myself mixed the products that I had to get the right shade for a natural make-up,”- said Bobby. The texture of the lipsticks should have been odorless, not liquid or dry. And their main task is not to completely change the color of the lips, but only to make them more expressive. The chemist whom Bobby met during one of the filming was able to carry out her idea.
In the 90s, it became incredibly fashionable among stars and it-girls to have lipstick from this brand - the first collection was called Brown Lip Color. It was based on brown: Bobbie suggested 10 nude lipsticks for different skin tones. The entire line immediately found itself on the stands in the large New York department store Bergdorf Goodman.
Bobby recalls: “I was hoping to sell 100 lipsticks in the first month, but all 100 left on the first day!” In the same year, she released the first tone sticks, which also became instantly popular. And in 1995, the Bobbi Brown brand became part of the Estee Lauder Companies cosmetics holding.
Today Bobbi Brown products are sold in over 60 countries around the world. On the occasion of the brand's anniversary, Bobby came to Moscow this summer and threw a big party on the roof of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art called “Be Who You Are”. The guests were able to observe the dress code with the help of Bobbi Brown lipsticks, which were sent out to everyone together with an invitation and were attached to the balloon's rope. And the next day, Bobbie held a public talk for everyone on the 5th floor of TSUM.
Bobbie commented on her decision to leave the company as follows: “My business in the beauty industry turned 25 this year. For me, this is a sign that I need to start a new chapter in life. I am very grateful to those incredible people with whom I had to collaborate and with whom we worked together to create tools. And to the Estee Lauder holding - for becoming my 'second' family and for the opportunities that it gave me."
Bobby's further career decisions are still unknown.
