Not a single New Year's table can do without this salad, but a traditional recipe can be harmful not only for the figure, but also for health. Russian nutritionists told us which salad ingredients should be replaced.

Experts have long recognized that the Olivier salad made according to a traditional Soviet recipe can be hazardous to health. It's no secret that mayonnaise and sausage turn a dish into a storehouse of calories.
And according to nutritionists from the Siberian State Medical University, canned cucumbers are also dangerous. Cucumbers can cause swelling due to their high salt content, and pickled cucumbers also contain vinegar, which irritates the walls of the stomach and intestines. In addition, cucumbers can lead to another side effect - like any salted or spicy food, they awaken an excessive appetite.
Nutritionists recommended excluding sausage from the recipe and replacing it with boiled chicken breast or turkey. But opinions were divided about mayonnaise - some doctors advise replacing it with homemade ones, since there are no chemical additives in its composition. Others insist that there are as many calories in homemade mayonnaise as in store, so it is better to add sour cream to the salad.
