Everyone who has tried to diet at least once in his life must have heard of products with "superpowers" - they can "seize" any harmfulness, and at the same time lose weight! Does it really work? Let's figure it out together with a nutrition specialist Olga Shumskaya.

Myth VS Reality

Some nutrition and dietetics experts try to convince us that there are foods that take more energy to digest than they provide. It is thanks to this property that they are "prescribed" to everyone who is losing weight. The most popular products from which extra pounds supposedly disappear are celery and pineapple. Is it so?

Calorie content of spinach, which is also referred to as "superfood", is 23 Kcal. If you believe in the theory with a negative calorie content, the body spends about 40 Kcal on its digestion. Therefore, if a cake with butter cream is a bite with a bunch of salad, you can not be afraid that your favorite dress will suddenly not button up.

“The calorie content of the lightest cottage cheese dessert is no less than 400 Kcal per 100 g,” says Olga Shumskaya. Even if we assume that spinach will somehow miraculously help avoid the transformation of carbohydrates into adipose tissue, you don't need to be a mathematician to calculate how much to eat! I don't even take into account the fact that such a flavor combination is, to put it mildly, an amateur."

Alas, it is impossible to consume carbohydrates uncontrollably without consequences. And no spinach will fix the situation. The body will store fats that cannot be processed. From a nutritional and nutritional point of view, the best combination is protein + fiber (eg vegetable salad + chicken). And Olga confirms this:

“There are a number of foods whose calorie content tends to zero. I recommend that my clients eat foods high in coarse fiber at night - they will not harm the figure in any way and satisfy the feeling of hunger. My favorites: carrots, celery, cabbage."

We also have good news: some foods speed up metabolism and significantly improve digestion. For example, radish has such properties. But it doesn't burn fat! Lipids are broken down only during intense muscle work. So, without physical exertion, it will not work to get rid of extra pounds.

“Some products contain a set of certain elements that enter into a chemical reaction in our body, which, in turn, leads to an acceleration of metabolism,” comments Olga. However, everyone's favorite pineapple is not one of those, so if you want to keep your figure, in no case use it at night."

Output

There are no foods with negative calories! Celery, carrots, radishes will not help you digest a piece of greasy cake. But as a second dinner or snack, they are great.
