Cynical Dr. House, inseparable friends of JD and Turk, pediatrician Doug Ross performed by young Clooney and favorite interns - BeautyHack has collected the best must-see series about doctors.
Dr. House

The rhythmic Massive Attack trip-hop in the title credits, the equally rhythmic tapping of the cane and the painfully familiar Nike sneakers - a couple of frames are enough to recognize everyone's favorite TV series. Each episode is dedicated to an individual patient and the difficult history of his treatment, and he, of course, gets to the chief diagnostician of Princeton Placeboro - Dr. Gregory House performed by Hugh Laurie.
Cynical, sometimes cruel and completely unbearable, and even addicted to Vicodin because of a sore leg - if it were not for House's talent for solving medical puzzles, he certainly would not have lasted a day in the clinic. However, the series about a genius doctor with a complex character was so fond of the public that it got into the Guinness Book of Records - in 2013 it was watched by more than 80 million viewers.
Good doctor

What if Dr. House were good? You will learn the answer to this question in the series from the same, by the way, the creator - David Shore. In fact, the two projects do not have much in common, except that the action also takes place in the hospital. The main character - a young surgeon Sean Murphy - is not rude to patients and does not insist that “everyone is lying”, but he still experiences difficulties in communication. The fact is that Sean has autism and savant syndrome - he is a real genius of medicine, but in the clinic, not everyone is happy with such a "strange" doctor.
Before filming The Good Doctor, actor Freddie Highmore had already played a person with mental disabilities - in the thriller Bates Motel, he played the role of a psychopath with a split personality. After casting for the new series, Freddie admitted: "It's great to save people after taking their lives for years!"
Clinic

In the series "Clinic" everyone will find their favorite hero: someone will memorize all the "jokes" of Dr. Cox, others - laugh at the antics of the janitor or sympathize with the main character JD (because all the "jokes" and antics go to him). The plot of the comedy series is based on fellow interns John Michael Dorian and Christopher Turk. After graduation, they get a job at the Sacred Heart clinic, meet friends and true love.
Despite the comedic component, all patient histories are real - while the series was filming, doctors from American hospitals acted as consultants and were even credited.
Ambulance

Before "House" and "Clinic", viewers learned about the life of doctors through the series "Ambulance" - and at the same time admired young George Clooney (there he is only 33). It was the filming of the show that brought the actor and his colleague Juliana Margulis worldwide fame, and the series itself was broadcast in prime time for 15 years and earned 5 Emmy awards.
In the story, pediatrician Doug Ross (who was played by Clooney) often gets into trouble because of his emotionality, but this is precisely what attracts the young nurse Carol Hathaway. The actors admit that their characters simply had to get married at the end, but the writers were against it, which is a pity, because without the romance of the two doctors, the life of the emergency department of the Chicago district hospital would be much more boring.
Anatomy of passion

The series is often compared to "Ambulance": here, too, the ups and downs of the staff of the Seattle Grace hospital, only in the center of the plot is a woman - a novice surgeon Meredith Gray. Viewers immediately appreciated the closeness to reality - the pilot episode was watched by more than 16 million people.
Throughout all 16 seasons, medical consultants were on duty on the set, and the actors themselves were filmed without understudies - it is not surprising that by the end of the project, they understood medical terms and diagnoses no worse than real doctors. And Dr. Addison Montgomery, who appeared in the second season, not only raised the ratings of the series even more, but also earned its own spin-off - "Private Practice" (more about it - here).
Body parts

Fans of the "Revealing" section on BeautyHack will definitely appreciate the series "Body Parts" - the reverse side of plastic surgery is not beautifully shown there. Completely different patients come to a private clinic in Miami, but everyone, without exception, has a personal drama behind the desire to correct their nose or enlarge their breasts. And the surgeons Sean and Christian make the world "more beautiful", only in different ways: the first puts his whole soul into the work, and the second is looking for any opportunity to earn extra money and have an affair with pretty patients.
One thing is for sure - Julian McMahon (he plays Lovelace Christian) is perfect for this role. As in "Charmed", his character is multifaceted, and behind the "glossy picture" hides a simple man with everyday problems. Look for other handsome men from the series, which is simply impossible not to fall in love with.
Notes of a young doctor

"Notes of a Young Doctor" is a British film adaptation of Bulgakov's works, and the humor is appropriate here, even the amputation shown realistically does not shock due to the peculiar irony of what is happening. Of course, you know the plot: a young doctor Vladimir Bomgard immediately after medical school goes to a remote village to treat local residents. But the year is 1917, and the Russian hinterland has its own characteristics - someone refuses an urgent operation because of superstition, others are trying to use the doctor's inexperience for personal gain.
The black comedy was still filmed for British television, so the attempt by the creators of the series to convey the spirit of the Russian village was not to all our compatriots' taste. But the leading actor Daniel Radcliffe was preparing seriously for filming - he even visited Bulgakov's house-museum to get used to the character.
Interns

The Russian TV series by Vyacheslav Dusmukhametov (he also gave us "Univer", "Sashatanya", and "Light from the Other World") is often compared with "Clinic" and "Doctor House", but fans are sure that the projects have nothing in common except medical realities. But the creators of the Interns themselves do not deny the similarities: yes, the head of the therapeutic department, Bykov, also cuts on a motorcycle and makes fun of the charges, and yes, his interns also constantly find themselves in comical situations, and the head physician Kisegach is the spitting image of Lisa Cuddy from House. But against the background of American prototypes, Lobanov, Varya Chernous, Kupitman and nurse Lyuba seem so familiar!
And most importantly, the sitcom is positive and light, without cruel jokes and dramatic outcomes - these are the usual everyday life of novice doctors, seasoned with a good sense of humor and Okhlobystin's talented game. The Golden Rhino and TEFI awards only confirm this.
Sklifosovsky

And this series allows a glimpse into the "behind the scenes" of the ambulance institute - the well-known Sklif, where doctors save lives every day. By tradition, each episode is a small story, although not always with a happy ending. The creators did not try to embellish the everyday life of ambulance workers - that is why they earned rave reviews from the audience: the nurses are rude just like in your district clinic, and the operations are shown even too realistic.
And the workers of the real Sklif followed this - they did not want the profession of an ambulance doctor to be embellished, so they acted as consultants on the set.
Pregnancy test

So far, only one season of the series has been filmed, but it managed to get the unofficial title of "one of the best projects on Russian television." According to the plot, the talented obstetrician Natasha Bakhmetyeva starts life from scratch: she leaves her lover, gets a job as the head of an experimental scientific medical center and from the very first day begins to take on the most difficult cases. A little later, she finds out that she is pregnant herself, and faces a difficult choice - to leave the child with a married man or not.
The creators also took care of the realism of this series: the shooting took place not in the pavilion, but in real maternity hospitals in St. Petersburg, and on the set there were not only mannequins, but also real newborn children. And the leading actress Svetlana Ivanova admitted that there is a lot of her in Bakhmetyeva herself - the actress herself came up with the hairstyle and manners of the doctor. You can find an interview with Svetlana here.
