Educational program … Rosacea (rosacea) is a chronic skin disease characterized by persistent erythema (redness), the formation of bumps and purulent eruptions, as well as constantly dilated small vessels on the face. During an exacerbation, nodules and papules may appear. Despite the fact that this is a fairly common disease (10-15% of the total number of skin diseases), the causes of its occurrence are still unknown. Of the most likely, doctors distinguish a hereditary predisposition, allergic dermatitis, and disruption of the endocrine system. The risk group also includes patients with vegetative-vascular dystonia and owners of pale, thin skin. Despite the fact that the disease is chronic, the external manifestations may decrease or increase. The area around the nose is especially affected. With exacerbations, it can become cherry red due to the expansion of small vessels.
Alarm bell
I have been a regular client of a beautician since the age of 13. It was at this age that my struggle with acne began. Once every two weeks I went to clean my face, but then there was no question of rosacea at all. I first heard about this disease when I gave birth to my son.
About a week after being discharged from the hospital, she began to notice that the skin of her face had acquired a slightly reddish tint. I did not attach any importance to this, considering it a completely natural process after pregnancy. Moreover, completely immersed in motherhood, I did not care about my appearance.
My mother began to sound the alarm. Once she broke down and said: "Sasha, what's wrong with your face?" Then I began to scrupulously examine myself in the mirror for the first time and realized that my skin was in a terrible state. I immediately grabbed my two-month-old son in an armful and ran to the beautician. The verdict came after a five-minute examination: rosacea.
Diagnostics
I was diagnosed with rosacea after a routine clinical examination: I had it all on my face! But, as the cosmetologist later explained, in some cases, when the symptoms are not so pronounced, you have to resort to biopsy. This is done in order to exclude the presence of a fungal disease. There is no need to take laboratory tests (blood, urine), since rosacea does not affect the main indicators. If your eye area is affected (sometimes rosacea starts showing up there), an ophthalmologist consultation is required.
Treatment
To combat rosacea, the cosmetologist prescribed me a course of mesotherapy and peeling with salicylic acid to remove flaking, which became especially noticeable in the nasal area. The injections were aimed at strengthening the vascular walls. I am also a happy owner of "saggy" skin, so the meso-cocktail contains preparations to increase the elasticity and firmness of the dermis. For three months, I was injected once every two weeks. After that, to keep the skin in a normal state, it was necessary to carry out maintenance therapy every six months.
Mesotherapy is an almost painless procedure, since the drugs are injected using the thinnest needle.
However, be prepared for the fact that for two days after it you will not be able to go anywhere: marks from injections (and sometimes small bruises) remain on the skin, and there is also a slight swelling. You cannot use the foundation immediately after the procedure, although later it is not prohibited.
Result
The improvement is noticeable almost immediately! Painful redness disappeared after a couple of hours. Several months ago, I met a girl with the same problem as mine. She is Lithuanian and treats rosacea in Vilnius. When she heard that I was being given a course of mesotherapy, she was horrified.
In Europe, rosacea is treated with non-invasive methods - only sparing external methods
The only thing that our and Western cosmetologists agreed on was a minimum of face care products. In order not to aggravate the situation, it is necessary to use only carefully selected cosmetics.
I don't know what explains the skepticism of specialists in Vilnius regarding mesotherapy. Personally, she helped me a lot. Now my son is almost three, the last time I was at a beautician more than six months ago, while everything is fine with my skin - I can even walk down the street without foundation. Another thing is that I can not afford to give up SPF protection even in winter: the payback for this is severe - age spots.
Daily care
I have a mixed skin type, so oily face creams are contraindicated, I use helium-textured products. In the morning and in the evening I thoroughly cleanse the skin with Gel Doux Nettoyant from Sisley. It is a soft gel with tropical resins. It removes excess sebum from pores without overdrying already dry cheeks. Sometimes I substitute a mild acid exfoliating soap for this product. In the afternoon, I apply Clarins Multi-Active Jour Gelée to my face. In the evening, after washing, I wipe my skin with Douglas Naturals Face Tonic organic argan oil toner. Before an important event, a mask from the Polish manufacturer AA Technologia Wieku always saves me: it instantly removes fine wrinkles and removes redness. I used to buy it in Warsaw, but now it has appeared in our stores and pharmacies.

Decorative cosmetics
For rosacea, you can use makeup. Only, as in the case of care products, it must be carefully selected. In the summer, I retire foundation, replacing it with mineral powder. Also in my purse there is always thermal water. Take any! It helps maintain optimal moisture balance in the skin, which is very important in rosacea.
About lifestyle
I lead a normal life, rosacea does not interfere with either sports or social activity. But my skin reacts with redness to anything (including a little lack of sleep). I can't even get upset and nervous so that I can go to the mirror without fear: my face turns red right away! And when that happens, my SOS remedy is the aforementioned mask from AA Technologia Wieku.
