What coloring will be in trend this winter, how to prolong the durability of makeup on New Year's Eve and what shades of products to choose? Masters of the "Britana" beauty studio talked about winter trends, the rules of festive make-up and demonstrated a topical image on one of the BeautyHack readers.
Meet Sasha. She has been working as a lawyer for three years and reads BeautyHack as much to learn the secrets of beauty - according to her, in this profession it is very important to look good. But Sasha is not used to bold beauty experiments - the dress code dictates restrained makeup and calm hair color:
“The most daring transformation was, perhaps, the square. The first three days I liked everything, but then it became difficult to fit this length. I still need a haircut: I don't have time to trim the ends in time, and in leaving I limit myself to a nourishing balm and a mask once a week - dry ends give it away. I go to work in a formal business style, I need to look good and strict, so my maximum in makeup is smoky eyes in brown tones, black mascara on the eyelashes and nude on the lips. Hollywood curls, arrows, red lipstick - that's what I miss so much on the holidays. I'm sure this image would suit me very much."
The British beauty studio masters had a difficult task: to transform Sasha for the New Year, but to make the image calm and suitable for work after the holidays. Before embarking on the transformation, stylist Valeria Efimenko and make-up artist Kirill Sozonov talked about winter trends and what to avoid in New Year's makeup.
Hair
If you plan to dye your hair before the New Year, choose natural shades, color dyeing in winter is losing ground. Of course, it all depends on your style, and you shouldn't blindly follow trends either. For example, a total blond has recently come into fashion - a very light shade that only courageous girls will like. But the glare will still be relevant, but it will become softer, more natural, because hair does not fade in anyone in the cold season.
Those who have never dyed their hair should not be afraid: dyes of modern professional products do not spoil their hair.
For example, stylists in "Britain" work for Kevin. Murphy, Kydra, Oribe - these products, first of all, take care of the hair, do not open the cuticle. And the pigments in the paint are very small, due to which the durability is improved, and the hair shines beautifully. If you read the composition, it may seem that these are pharmaceuticals: there is honey, and pomegranate extract, and shea butter.
If we talk about haircuts, then the most relevant hair length for today is shoulder-length. It can be different variations of "bob" and "pixie" - such hairstyles are always young and look very beautiful.
Makeup
This winter, the focus of all makeup artists is on arrows - of all shapes and forms! Bright lips are also in trend - especially the classic scarlet shade. A large amount of gold can be noted, and not only in the eyes: in a highlighter, in a makeup base, even in mascara and eyebrow! You shouldn't worry that gold will not suit you - there are plenty of variations: light-skinned people will do cold colors a la "champagne", and dark-skinned should choose rich shades and bronze.
If you want to repeat the makeup from the catwalks, give preference to lilac-purple tones: burgundy or plum smoky eyes, blueberry lipstick shades and so on. But if you do "cold" accent on the eyes, do not forget to emphasize and lips, so as not to look pale.
And, of course, New Year is the best time for rhinestones and sparkles, although we advise you to use the latter with caution. Some creative makeup artists apply them instead of a highlighter or on the lips - for beginners it is better to stick to eye makeup. Glitters on the face look beautiful in the frame, but on the most festive night of the year, they can give the image an unnecessary casualness.

“Sasha has good hair, but the ends are slightly dry - you can see that several haircuts have been missed. Everyone knows that it is impossible to restore split ends with the help of means, so we will remove the length. And in order to create density and mass in the back, let's make a slight lengthening along the line of the shoulders and add small layers for volume. I would not call Sasha's hair thin, but natural splendor will not prevent them. And yet I tried not to do the graduation on the face - this option is not suitable for everyone. But we will have a bang - long enough so that it can, if desired, be styled along with the rest of the hair.
First, I made the highlights with Freestyle Lightener by Kevin Murphy. It is unique in that it works outdoors: it encapsulates on the hair without dyeing adjacent strands. Therefore, the hair does not need to be covered with foil - it is enough to apply a thin layer in a chaotic manner with a brush. For more naturalness, I used the Lightening Wand tool - this is a special stick from Kevin. Murphy, which picks up vellus hair, due to which the air touch effect is obtained. Our task was not to make bright, noticeable highlights - these are more overflows, as if Sasha spent a lot of time at sea and her curls burned out naturally.
I didn't want to radically change my hair color, but decided to add depth to it. To do this, I made semi-permanent toning at low percentages and slightly darkened the hair roots. I would call this variant of coloring "2-in-1": over time, the tinting will wash off, and the lightened strands will become brighter - you will get a new look! And on New Year's Eve, Sasha will shine with a honey-copper tint and a barely noticeable tint in strawberry pink.
After coloring, I trimmed the hair (the length was removed beforehand) and added those same layers. Sasha was worried that styling the curls would become more difficult, but such a haircut is good because it looks relevant anyway: the main thing is to dry the roots well to add natural volume. To do this, you just need to dry your hair upside down or pull the strands perpendicular to the air flow. Of course, styling will come in handy here - it could be Anti. Gravity spray and Body. Build mousse from Kevin. Murphy, or any other proven volume product."

“Considering that Sasha is engaged in jurisprudence, I would focus on the lips: in the official business style it is customary to highlight this particular area of the face in order to draw more attention to what you say. We, of course, do festive makeup, but it is important that it be familiar and comfortable: this option can be used in everyday life, if after work you need, for example, to go to a party.
Previously, I made a correction and coloring of the eyebrows and darkened the eyelashes a little. For this I used paint, but I don't like henna for one simple reason - it is unpredictable and, as a result, can give a completely inappropriate shade. Our hair color has become warmer, which means that the eyebrows should match in scale.
Before starting makeup, it is important to prepare the skin: I cleaned it with micellar water, applied a primer and glued on patches that will help brighten and moisturize the area around the eyes. Don't forget about a moisturizing balm - especially if you plan to apply matte lipstick on New Year's Eve. And if you don't know which primer is right for you, opt for matting ones - they prolong the make-up durability and reduce the appearance of pores.
Makeup started from the eyes so that the shadows do not fall on the face. For this, I pre-used the Urban Decay base, and over the centuries I mixed lilac-pink shades from the Too Faced and Tom Ford palettes. The look is still evening, so the eyelash contour was highlighted with a black pencil and glued on some eyelashes to make the look playful. At the same time, they did not refuse the mascara - they used the voluminous and coal-black Cabaret, Vivienne Sabo.
To make the tone look organic, I used the base and cream of the same brand - Tom Ford, and for different zones I took several concealers: in the nasolabial folds - lighter, under the eyes - lightening. Those who are afraid to look too bright will definitely like this trend: instead of blush, use bronzing powder - it will get rid of unnecessary accents in makeup and give your face a natural tan. As promised, I added gold - for this I used a Chanel highlighter from the Christmas collection. It turned out to be a clever combination of cold and warm tones, and for the final touch I applied a berry red lip gloss right on top of the balm."
Neither the new hair length, nor the fluffy eyelashes, nor the bright accent on the lips shocked Sasha - the shine in his eyes made it clear: the Britana masters hit the mark! The image turned out to be bright, but not defiant, and it will definitely be appropriate both on New Year's Eve and in everyday life.
