There is a lot of controversy about how much fruit and vegetables to eat. Someone is guided by a simple principle: the more - the better (it will not be worse), and someone calls specific numbers - for example, many talk about 800 grams per day.
An international team of doctors (about 2300 specialists from 133 countries) found out that it is enough to eat about 375 grams of vegetables, fruits and legumes per day. This amount (about 3-4 standard servings) is enough to reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease and premature death.
The result was obtained after a lengthy experiment conducted since 2003. More than 135 thousand people from 18 countries, aged 35 to 70, participated in the observation of doctors. All of them had to undergo medical examinations every three years and did not suffer from any diseases at the time of the start of the interviews. For 10 years, the lowest mortality rates were recorded in those who ate from 375 to 500 grams of fruits and vegetables per day. Now we know!
