If at the beginning of the two thousandth you did not know who Katya Pushkareva was and did not empathize with Tatyana Razbezhkina, then there was no TV or Internet at home. “Don't Be Born Beautiful”, “A Short Course in a Happy Life” and 8 more TV series about beauties who top Russian ratings.
Don't be born beautiful

“Don't Be Born Beautiful” is the Russian version of the Colombian TV series “Ugly Betty”, directed by Farnando Giatanu in 1999. It was released on September 5, 2005 and immediately topped the popularity ratings - the whole country, from small to large, followed the fate of Katya Pushkareva.
Katya (Nelly Uvarova) is an intelligent and educated girl who is a little stuck in the 80s: braces, a complete lack of makeup, tiny braids and outfits that smell of mothballs. By chance, she takes a job at a fashion company. And, of course, he immediately falls in love with his boss Andrei Zhdanov. The girl, to put it mildly, does not at all fit into the "interior" consisting of models, catwalks and infantile designers. Taunts, bullying of colleagues and other "troubles" did not prevent her from taking the post of president of the company and marrying the "prince".
For 200 episodes, viewers were waiting for the miraculous transformation from a caterpillar into a butterfly. And it happened - at about the 150th issue of the telenovela, Katya said goodbye to braids, mastered the art of makeup and made friends with fashion stores.
By the way, the fictitious Zimaletto trademark was bought from Amedia Film by the Sela corporation, which has been producing clothes under this brand to this day.
Tatyana's Day

This telenovela became a remake of the series "War of the Roses", which was successfully held in Latin America.
"Tatiana's Day" is the story of a provincial girl Tatiana Razbezhkina (Anna Snatkina), who came to conquer the capital from the Saratov region. She is an intelligent, purposeful careerist, but at the same time naive, like a child. Her rival for the heart of Sergei Nikiforov - Tatyana Barinova (Natalya Rudova) - easily weaves intrigues and twists her "friend" around her finger, exposing her in a not very pleasant light.
The series became one of the most successful premieres on Russian television. 142 actors and 100 crew members took part in its creation every day. It is said that 35 cans of powder were used for makeup in 245 shooting days. No wonder: what is not a series, then tears!
Poor Nastya

At the beginning of the two thousandth, Elena Korikova headed the rating of the most beautiful Russian actresses. It was she who got the main role of Anna Platonova (baptized by Anastasia) in the telenovela "Poor Nastya". The series was broadcast in 34 countries around the world - an absolute record for the national cinema.
Poor Nastya features real historical characters, but the main storyline is fictional. The action takes place in 1839. Baron Korf is raising an adopted serf peasant Anna and dreams of seeing her play on the stage of the Imperial Theater. Prince Mikhail Repin has feelings for the girl. Was he able to keep them after learning about the origin of the girl? Let's leave the intrigue for those who haven't watched (there are some, right?).
The premiere took place in 2003 on the STS channel - the series was broadcast in prime time and repeated at 8 am. At the same time, the telenovela was repeated a huge number of times - the last one was in 2016 on the Yenisei TV channel.
Two destinies

Russian TV series, aired from 2002 to 2008. The telenovela is based on the book by Semyon Malkov, directed by Vladimir Krasnopolsky and Valery Uskov.
The action takes place in the sixties. Two friends Vera and Lida, who grow up in the village, dream of getting married and moving to the capital. Vera was lucky - Stepan, a trainee from Moscow, falls in love with her. The second girlfriend also claims to his heart and square meters. Lida substitutes Vera (pregnant, by the way), and a naive guy makes a choice in her favor - the couple gets married. Vera, however, marries a member of the local village council, Ivan, and soon leaves for Moscow as well.
Five years later, the former friends meet again - their daughters go to the same kindergarten. Lida begins to blackmail her friend, threatening to tell everyone that Svetlana is Stepan's daughter. For her silence, she asks to bother about the apartment.
Another 15 years pass. The couples have grown up children. Now they are the main characters, building their lives and stuffing bumps. There will be a happy ending, but only after twelve episodes of the fifth season.
A short course in a happy life

The sixteen-part film by Valeria Guy Germanicus, written by Anna Kozlova, attracts to the screen from the first episode - it is not passed through a pink prism (only hardcore, only harsh realities).
The series follows four very different women working for the New Recruit recruiting agency. Sasha (Svetlana Khodchenkova) is having an affair with a married boss, Anya (Anna Slyu) dreams of meeting her soul mate on social networks, Lyuba (Alisa Khazanova) decides that she cannot have children, Katya (Ksenia Gromova) is mired in family life. Their frank reflections on life in modern realities keep the viewer up to the last episode - make watching a movie in your weekend plans.
Sweet life

In the center of the storyline of this series is the story of six successful and successful Muscovites, whose usual way of life is being changed by a single mother from Perm named Sasha.
The girl makes her living by dancing go-go in the club. After a not very pleasant situation at the birthday of the “golden boy”, Sasha sends the child to his grandmother, and she herself moves to her friend. The entire telenovela consists of eight episodes, each one hour long. But during these 480 minutes, each of the heroes shows himself from an unexpected side: their life is changing in a way that they could not imagine.
The series premiered in May 2014 - it was shown uncensored on the Amediateka TV channel. Later, Sasha's story appeared on the TNT channel. True, the series has undergone some changes - they were cut out by expressions in "mighty Russian" and too explicit scenes.
The second season came out a year later. And again, uncensored - this time TNT decided to show the viewer everything as it is. There was also a third - in 2016. They say that a sequel will be released soon - we are looking forward to the final chord.
Kitchen

It seems that all films with Dmitry Nagiyev in the title role are doomed to success.
Maxim Lavrov is a talented chef. After graduating from a culinary school in Voronezh and serving in the army, he decides to conquer the capital, or rather, its "gastronomic" part. And, lo and behold, Maxim is hired at one of the best restaurants in Moscow, owned by a show business star. Each episode is an independent episode, although there are several storylines in the series, from the first to the last minute.
"Kitchen" became the most expensive sitcom on Russian television - each episode cost the producers an astronomical amount of $ 200,000. The channel had to part with 1 million rubles (per episode) for the right to broadcast. The premiere took place in 2012. In July 2013, the third season was released, and a year later - the full-length film "Kitchen in Paris".
Since July 2016, the STS TV channel has been running the spin-off of the Eleon Hotel series. And in March last year, it was decided to continue filming "Kitchen" - to be season 7!
Olga

"Olga" is a series that once and for all takes off "rose-colored glasses" and makes you look at the world with a "sober" look. The main character lives in the Severnoye Chertanovo microdistrict and is raising two children alone. The eldest - Anya - studies at vocational school and seems to be the most "adult" member of the family. Timofey is only 11. But he believes that he is at least 18. Olga's father is a former footballer who gets into trouble due to endless lies. Sister - Lena, tries to find her happiness, having affairs with married men.
Olga seems to be living a life of her own until she falls in love with the hearse driver Grisha. A young, strong and handsome guy has serious intentions, and a single mother has serious complexes.
Yana Troyanova played the main role in the series. In 2017, the film received an award as the best comedy series according to the Association of Film and Television Producers.
DeFFchonki

The premiere of the comedy series "DeFFchonki" took place in 2012. The main characters are four girls who came to Moscow from different parts of Russia and rent an apartment together. Dreamy Masha (Galina Bob - an interview with her can be read here) works as a waitress in a cafe and is in love with the pop star Zvonarev, played by Alexei Vorobyov.
She has a younger sister - Vasilisa (Taisiya Vilkova). She is only 17 - the girl came to Moscow to enroll in law (this is what the parents want). She herself does not see herself in jurisprudence and dreams of a stage.
Lele 27 (Polina Maksimova). Her goal is to successfully marry and live without denying herself anything. The girl is not familiar with Russian classics, but she unmistakably determines the brand of the coat, the brand of watches and the cost of someone else's handbag.
And, finally, the last heroine - Ekaterina Pavlovna (Anastasia Denisova), in love with her boss. At the beginning of her career, she worked as a secretary, but then she was promoted - a new round in her career begins. Palna is overweight, with which she endlessly struggles, trying to "lose weight by summer."
The last season was released in November 2015. And in the program "Where is the logic" the mother of two children and actress Galina Bob, who played Masha, said that there would be a sequel. When is still unknown.
Red Queen

The series about “Soviet Sophia Loren” - the model Regina Zbarskaya - was released in 2015. The melodrama with Ksenia Lukyanchikova in the title role for a long time topped the popularity ratings - it tells about what actually happened on the catwalks in the era of the "Iron Curtain".
Zoya Kolesnikova lives in an ordinary working-class family and dreams of becoming a mathematician. After a family tragedy, the girl's mother goes to prison. Zoya is forced to leave for Moscow and change her name (the new one is Regina), because there is no place for the criminal's daughter in the “prosperous” society of a remote province. The girl enters the Faculty of Economics at VGIK and is completely immersed in her studies. Once, while standing in line for tickets to the Dior show (yes, yes, at that time they were also held in Moscow), she met the artist Lev Barsky. To match the level of the "golden" guy, she accepts the offer of Vera Aralova - the fashion designer of the House of Fashion - and becomes a fashion model.
And then everything, as in a "fairy tale", only very terrible: the KGB, interrogations, marriage, abortion, a psychiatric hospital, working as a cleaner and a tragic ending. This time without a happy ending - in Russian cinema, he is more the exception than the rule.
